How to Schedule a Post on Facebook: Pages, Profiles, Groups

To schedule a Facebook post, open your Page, go to Meta Business Suite and use the Scheduling options toggle in Create post. This guide gives the steps for Pages, phones, Reels, Stories and groups, the time window, who can schedule, and how to edit or delete a scheduled post.

To schedule a post on a Facebook Page, switch to the Page, click Meta Business Suite in the left menu, click Create post, add your content, turn on the Set date and time toggle next to Scheduling options, choose a date and time, and click Schedule. Facebook says you can schedule posts to publish between 20 minutes and 29 days away. Pages, profiles in pro mode, and group admins and moderators can schedule. The Help Center pages read for this guide do not describe scheduling for an ordinary profile.

Who can schedule a Facebook post

Where you postCan you schedule?Where Meta documents it
Facebook PageYes, if you have Facebook or Task accessMeta Business Suite on a computer or phone, and the Facebook app
Profile in pro modeYes, in the Facebook app on a phoneFacebook app, Post settings
Profile without pro modeNo Help page found that describes itNone
Facebook groupYes, if you are an admin or moderatorThe group's post box on facebook.com

Pro mode adds professional tools to your existing profile and does not create a new one. To turn it on, click your profile photo, click your name, click Options below your cover photo, then click Turn on pro mode and Turn on. Turning it on sets your Who can follow me preference to Public.

Schedule a post on a Page from a computer

  1. Switch to the Page you want to use.
  2. From the Page, click Meta Business Suite in the left menu.
  3. Click Create post below the Page's profile picture.
  4. Add the content for your post.
  5. Next to Scheduling options, click the Set date and time toggle.
  6. Set a date and time. Click Active times to see recommended times, which Meta bases on when followers were most active on Facebook and Instagram over the past 7 days.
  7. Click Schedule.

All scheduling times follow your current time zone. To save a post without scheduling it, click Finish later and it goes to Drafts.

Several top-ranking guides, including one updated in 2026, start with Publishing Tools. Facebook's current Help Center article starts from Meta Business Suite in the Page's left menu, so follow that route if your screen differs from an older guide.

To create a post you need either full control of the Page or content permission in Meta Business Suite. Facebook's own article says scheduled posts can be created and edited by people with Facebook or Task access.

Schedule from your phone

There are two routes.

In the Meta Business Suite app, tap Content at the bottom, choose Posts, Reels or Stories at the top, and tap Create. Add your text and media, tap Next, tap Schedule for later, choose the date and time, and tap Schedule. You need at least partial access to the Page. Meta notes that this app experience may not be available to everyone yet.

In the Facebook app, you can schedule from a Page or from a profile in pro mode:

  1. At the top of your Feed, Page or profile, tap What's on your mind?
  2. Create your post and tap Next to open Post settings.
  3. Choose Schedule for later and pick a time, or use a recommended time. Meta bases these on when your followers are most active on Facebook.
  4. Tap Post.

To see everything you have scheduled, tap Manage Posts on your Page or profile.

Schedule a Reel or a Story

Meta Business Suite schedules Reels and Stories as well as posts. Some guides say Facebook Stories cannot be scheduled, but Meta's Business Help Center describes how.

On a computer in Meta Business Suite:

  • For a Reel, click Create reel, choose your Facebook Page under Post to, add your video or photos, and click Next. A later step lets you schedule the reel in advance, share it now or save it as a draft. Then click Schedule.
  • For a Story, click Create story, choose where to post, and add up to 10 photos or videos. Under Scheduling options, choose Schedule, set the date and time, and click Schedule.

On a phone, the Meta Business Suite app uses the same Content, Create and Schedule for later path as for posts. Meta states the 20-minute to 29-day window for posts only. The Reel and Story pages give no range.

Schedule a post in a Facebook group

Admins and moderators can schedule group posts. Admins can also set up recurring posts through Admin Assist.

  1. Go to facebook.com/groups and select your group.
  2. Click Write something to start a post. You may need to click Discussion first.
  3. Write your post, then click Calendar next to Post.
  4. Select the date and time, and click Schedule.

The Calendar option appears only after you start typing a post. To see group posts, click Scheduled Posts in the Admin tools menu. You may need to click Manage first. Meta Business Suite's post screen also lists Facebook Group as a destination.

How far ahead you can schedule

For Page posts, Facebook says between 20 minutes and 29 days away. With a Meta One plan (Advanced, Expert or Max), Meta says you can schedule posts and reels up to a year (365 days) ahead. That page says the feature is available only on mobile devices.

Edit, reschedule or delete a scheduled post

The options depend on where you scheduled the post.

  • Page, on a computer. In Meta Business Suite, click Planner in the left menu, find the post on the calendar and click it, then click Options. You can choose Edit post (text, media, link or location), Duplicate post, Reschedule post, Move to drafts, which cancels the publish time, or Delete post. The Content tab works too: open Posts & reels and select the Scheduled tab.
  • Meta Business Suite phone app. Tap Content, choose Scheduled from the dropdown, tap Options next to the item, and tap Reschedule post. The same menu offers edit, duplicate and delete.
  • Facebook app. Tap Manage Posts. To change a scheduled post, delete it and recreate it.
  • Group. Open Scheduled Posts in the Admin tools menu, then choose Reschedule Post or Post Now, or click Options for Edit post or Delete post.

If you cannot schedule

Meta does not publish a troubleshooting list for this. These are the conditions its Help Center states:

  • You are posting from an ordinary profile. Meta's pages describe scheduling for Pages, profiles in pro mode and groups.
  • You lack the role. Page scheduling needs Facebook or Task access, and creating a post in Meta Business Suite needs full control or content permission.
  • The time is outside the window. For Page posts it must be 20 minutes to 29 days from now.
  • You are in a group and are not an admin or moderator, or you have not started typing the post yet.
  • You are on a phone and the Meta Business Suite app does not offer the option yet.

Schedule Facebook and Instagram together

If your Facebook Page and Instagram profile are connected and in the same business portfolio, Meta Business Suite can cross-post an Instagram post to the Facebook feed and a Facebook post to Instagram Feed. For Instagram's own limits, see the guide to scheduling Instagram posts. For a professional network, see the guide to scheduling LinkedIn posts. If you need ideas for what goes in the calendar, see social media post ideas.
